Recently, the 10th Chinese Medical Team Sent to Assist Timor Leste carried out volunteer medical consultations and TCM cultural activities for local people. Wang Wei, Head Nurse of the Tuina Department of our hospital, and Lei Bibo, Physician of the Anesthesiology Department/ Operating Room of our hospital, participated in the activities as members of the medical team.
Volunteer Medical Consultations
Under the guidance of the Chinese Embassy in Timor Leste and the Ministry of Health of Timor Leste, the 10th Chinese Medical Team Sent to Assist Timor Leste, together with the Chinese Business Association of Timor Leste, crossed the sea to carry out volunteer medical consultations in Atauro, Timor Leste, which was warmly welcomed by the local government and people.

This volunteer clinic mainly focused on exopathogenic diseases and chronic diseases common in local rainy seasons. When distributing drugs to patients, in order to make patients clear about the time, frequency and precautions of taking drugs, Wang Wei made small cards in Tetun language. Lei Bibo patiently communicated with patients, measured their vital signs, and then assigned them to related specialists for further diagnosis and treatment.


The medical team provided 189 services and distributed 153 medicines in Atauro National Hospital; while in Bequeli Village, the medical team provided 227 services and distributed 169 medicines.
TCM Cultural Activities
The 10th Chinese Medical Team Sent to Assist Timor Leste and the Confucius Class of the School of Business of Timor Leste jointly held TCM cultural activities.

Wang Wei demonstrated moxibustion, scraping and other appropriate techniques of traditional Chinese medicine, which was acclaimed by the local people.


More than 150 people participated in the activities, including representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Timor Leste, all members of the medical team, the first Vice Minister of Education of Timor Leste, the dean of the business school, representatives of faculty members of the business school, and local overseas Chinese.
