On April 6, the 26th Chinese Medical Team to Mozambique, in collaboration with the Confucius Institute at Eduardo Mondlane University, held a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) cultural exchange and free clinic event. Dr. Yang Dan, a physician from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of our hospital and a member of the medical team, participated in the event. Against the backdrop of the China-Africa Year of People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges, Dr. Yang delivered health care services while promoting TCM culture across Africa, fulfilling the mission of overseas medical aid through concrete actions.

The event centered on TCM cultural dissemination. Dr. Yang actively assisted the medical team's experts in delivering engaging TCM lectures to local faculty and students. She systematically explained TCM's long history, diagnostic principles, and clinical applications, breaking down its scientific essence in accessible language, accompanied by live demonstrations. This allowed young Africans to experience the unique charm of traditional medicine up close. The audience was highly enthusiastic and interactive, voluntarily trying acupuncture, moxibustion, and other techniques, personally experiencing TCM's effectiveness in relieving fatigue and improving discomfort, thereby gaining a genuine appreciation for the profound nature of TCM culture.

As an OB/GYN physician, Dr. Yang focused on women's health during the free clinic, offering exclusive consultations, health advice, and personalized guidance to female university students. Together with her medical team colleagues, she also conducted basic health check-ups, symptomatic treatments, and medicine distributions for all faculty and students, safeguarding the physical and mental health of the young learners with professional medical skills. During the event, Dr. Yang also educated students and staff on HIV/AIDS prevention, distributing informational brochures and helping them establish scientific health concepts and enhance self-protection awareness.

On this mission to Mozambique, Dr. Yang not only served the local population with her expertise in obstetrics and gynecology but also used TCM culture as a bridge to help build a link of mutual learning between Chinese and Mozambican civilizations. Through frontline service, she deeply experienced the aid spirit of "fearless of hardships, devoted to service, healing the sick and saving lives, with boundless love," and witnessed the heartwarming scenes of TCM culture crossing borders and being warmly embraced by overseas communities. In the future, Dr. Yang will continue to fulfill her overseas medical aid role, using medical service as a vehicle and TCM culture as a bond to persistently disseminate excellent traditional Chinese medicine, diligently protect the health of local people, and contribute her strength as a medical professional to deepening China-Mozambique friendship and advancing China-Africa people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
